Mind The Gap

Yes, it's another big gap between posts, and this is just to fill the space until I can get a proper post together from the comfort of home.

Why? It's a combination of a very busy July, along with the internet fiasco leaving me cut off from the world at home. Still, within the next 7-10 days I've been assured my new Pipex account will be up, and hopefully better than my previous provider, Bulldog (for whom I could do an entire post about their problems).

The highlight of July for me was a night out in London with the guys from work, which meant a trip to The Langley. It's a great bar that's just a stones throw from Covent Garden station, and although you can easily walk past it (as I did, twice) with it's modest entrance, it's very spacious on the inside with several rooms, each with their own theme.

They've got a great range of drinks, with a beer setting you back around £3.40, and cocktails at around £5.45. Also, as they're part of Late Night London, you can head over to that site and print of a voucher for discounts on cocktails. This one definately gets my recommendation for a night out in London.

So, with internet on the way, and more substantial posts to follow, a good week to all until next time!

43 Things

It's been a while since the last post, but then I have been pretty busy the last few days with helping a friend move house and spending some quality time with TV that I've been missing. It's worth owning a TV for Lost and Boston Legal alone.

So, it's a grey and dreary Monday morning, and not the most exciting start to the week, but I have found a website to keep me entertained and provide great motivation for doing all the things I keep meaning to do, but keep putting off. The site is 43 Things, and the idea is that after a free registration, you can either enter things you're looking to do, or browse through and see what other people are trying to do, then add them to your own list.

The result of all this is not only a checklist for yourself of the things you want to do, but seeing how many other people are trying to do the same thing, which is a good inspiration. You can share stories of how you're doing with a goal, ask questions of those who have already done it, or "cheer" someone with their goal to help motivate them.

My two paragraph review of the site hardly does it justice, and barely scratches the surface of the many features available, so head on over and check it out for yourself, it may give you some ideas you'd never though of!

Lovely Things

The heatwave is truly upon us now, leaving me wilting in 30 degrees of unrelenting sun with just enough energy to pull up the keyboard and type. Looks like it's going to be a hot night as well, which means just throwing the thinnest sleeping bag I can find in the back garden and trying to escape the heat for a decent nights sleep.

Still, can't complain, the fantastic weather made for a great BBQ over the weekend with plenty of burgers and wine. A winning combination.

So, for my post today, it's a bit of shameless promotion for a friends blog, Lovely Things.

The site is dedicated to, as the title suggests, all kinds of lovely things for the home and garden, and not just your everyday functional items, but some of the most stylish, wild or unusual products you'd want in your home.

Even if some of the items may not be to your taste (pink kitchen appliances anyone?), it's worth checking back each day just to see what weird and wonderful things they've tracked down.

Have a good week end enjoy the weather!
