New Music Friday

Because I've not done a music post in a while, and also because I really need to push that last post down the page as soon as possible, it's time for New Music Friday!

The album that's been on continuous loop for me this week has been Version by Mark Ronson:

It's essentially an album of covers, but done with some interesting styles, and in particular, look out for the cover of Kaiser Chiefs "Oh My God" by Lily Allen and The Zutons "Valerie" by Amy Winehouse. Very addictive.

Also going to throw in a mention for my favorite single of the week; "Generator" by The Holloways, which I defy anyone to listen to without dancing or tapping along!

And finally on the subject of music; great news this week for all us legitimate iTunes users, who can now buy higher quality tracks without the DRM. Sure, it's 20p extra per individual track, but strangely, album prices seem the same, and to me, it's worth the extra few pence. Well done Apple!

Oh go on then, for those using iTunes, I'll even throw in a few direct links to the iTunes store for the two albums:

Mark Ronson - Version
The Holloways - Generator

Have a good weekend all!

  • Great modern day covers. Mark Ronson puts the funk back into my workday! He is a really nice guy also! Here's hoping he doesn't go down the same path as many other over exposed Producers eg: Neptunes/Pharrell, Timbaland etc.

  • I will have to check this out. Luckily Richard seems to already be on top of this.

And were where these types of suggestions when you were here a-visiting a few months ago?

  • I don't believe in or support downloads... unless it's when I buy the vinyl and they give me the free download.

  • Strange that the topic of music didn't really come up all that much, but I guess it's just another excuse for me to come back some time!

9er; I do kind of miss the old vinyl, but do love having all the music in one place to pick and choose without getting up. Am I really getting that lazy??
